The Victorian Government is supporting the City of Whittlesea to deliver new recreational spaces and facilities for local walkers and cyclists through the Growing Suburbs Fund.
The official opening of the Granite Hills (Quarry Hills) Regional Park – Connecting Trails project was celebrated on Friday, 8 November 2024.
The project will connect key walking and cycling trails in Melbourne’s growing northern suburbs, providing crucial community infrastructure and more accessible recreation opportunities for local communities in Epping, Wollert, South Morang, and Mernda.
Key works have included the development of connecting trails, resting and viewing areas with public furniture and interpretive signage and wayfinding.
The Granite Hills (Quarry Hills) Regional Park – Connecting Trails project will support the health and wellbeing of the community and assist the council in meeting the demand for walking trails and fitness tracks in the area.
The $1.13 million project was jointly funded by the Victorian Government and the City of Whittlesea with $322,000 from the Growing Suburbs Fund.
