Council Flood Support Fund

The Victorian Government is providing $35 million via the Council Flood Support Fund to councils to support their communities to recover from the October 2022 floods. The Program provides upfront funding for councils to undertake clean-up activities and help restore local facilities and services that are the lifeblood of regional communities.

Activities supported through the fund include the collection and removal of debris deposited in council parks, reserves and community assets, waste transportation costs, staffing and restoration of community services.

This support is in addition to existing Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. Only councils in areas that experienced significant flood impacts received this funding.

This program runs until June 2025.

Council COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Program

The Victorian Government is providing $12.32 million for the Council COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Program, funding each council to provide free Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) to the public.

This program is a partnership between the Department of Government Services (DGS) and the Department of Health (DH). It supports councils to distribute RATs to community members via libraries, council customer service centres, community groups, not for profit organisations, and other sites and services tailored to the needs of communities.

Councils have established over 400 collection locations state-wide.  For collection locations, and information on the program, visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/get-a-covid-19-test.

This program is funded until December 2023.
