The official opening of the Wright Avenue Playspace renewal took place on Wednesday, 26 February 2025.
The project refurbished the Wright Avenue Playspace in Upwey with upgraded equipment, including a double-bay swing set, slides, a carousel spinner, drinking fountain, and seating. Nature play elements, such as rocks and logs, were incorporated, along with new garden beds featuring native plants.
A new accessible pathway has improved access from street parking and provides a link between Wright Avenue and Mast Gully Road.
The project has enhanced the amenity and accessibility of the local park, with family-friendly areas that include educational and imaginative play spaces.
The $200,000 upgrade was jointly funded by the Yarra Ranges Shire Council and the Victorian State Government, with $100,000 provided through the Growing Suburbs Fund.
