Two regional libraries have been revitalised thanks to funding from the Victorian Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
The official reopening, marking the completion of extensive upgrades at both libraries, took place at the Euroa Library on Friday, 16 August 2024.
Previously, limited hours at both locations restricted the community’s access to information. With recent enhancements, including extended hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seven days a week, the libraries now offer greater flexibility to the community.
These improvements have significantly bolstered the libraries’ role in fostering a love for reading and learning, allowing the community better access to their facilities and resources. The revitalisation has bridged significant gaps in information access, creating not only a welcoming environment outside of work and home but also a vibrant space for community connection and shared experiences.
The upgrades have transformed the libraries from their former tired state into vibrant and modern spaces. These improvements are expected to make a lasting positive impact on the Euroa and Numurkah communities.
Enhancements at both locations included:
- New contemporary paintwork
- Low shelving with castors
- New lighting throughout the library
- New IT area with public access computers
- Smart returns chute
- CCTV
- Security and access system
The Euroa Library received over $91,000 from the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, while the Numurkah Library was funded by the Goulburn Valley Libraries in partnership with the Victorian Government, receiving over $110,000 from the same program.
